It is difficult to chain down feelings in words. Words have limited alphabets to express its meaning, whereas feelings and emotions fly in the sky, dances with the rain, murmurs with the wind and flows with the river. How can one bind the sky, rain, wind and river within the twenty- six English alphabets? Feelings like love and infatuation is hard to describe in words. These are like feelings that act as instant triggers and give the instant thrill but often fade away over time. They either makes you feel happy or make you feel sad. It is dependent on different circumstances. It is the situation, the ambience around, the people and their words and action that make you react to be just happy, overwhelmed with happiness or depressed or annoyed. So to understand what is love and what is infatuation, one need to listen to one’s conscience. One needs to feel the exhilaration of ultimate passion of one’s existence.
Infatuation – The Instant Desire
“The heart has its reason which reason does not understand”-is a very true statement when one finds oneself more attracted towards the call of one’s heart. If a person gets attracted towards another individual at an instance, we term the feeling as infatuation.
Why do we term it as infatuation?
This is because these feelings are triggers that are more circumstantial. This kind of attraction is often fleeting and transient. It calls for no giving. It might not stand the test of time. Infatuation is an instant, strong liking for someone. It calls for no commitment. However, the feeling of infatuation is shrouded with uncertainty and insecurity about the partner. The feeling of infatuation gets weakened mostly over time or a separation, whereas love matures over time. Excessive infatuation do not grow love, it breeds obsession that can become harmful for an individual or individuals that are part of infatuation. The feeling of thrill is experienced if one is infatuated by the other.
Love – The Lasting Bond
However, it is the distinct feeling of happiness that one experiences when one is in love. Love grows unconditionally. It does not call for reciprocation of the feeling. Love is giving. Love is selfless. In love you do not commit but you devote yourself. Love knows no boundaries. It can traverse the most difficult and can achieve the impossible.
In love you accomplish the greatest of all things. You maybe miles apart, you might not see each other for years yet you can feel the strength of the relationship through the mental wavelength that you shared. Love grows with distance. Love teaches you to grow strong, it teaches you to speak with confidence, and it brings out different facets from within you. In marriage to be happy, to make the relationship between individual grow each day, one need to love each other. It is in the selfless giving and knowing that one can keep the candle of love glowing in relationships.
What is the emotion that is expressed by a mother to her child? Will it be infatuation? No, we call it the mother’s love towards her child. Why love? Because it is unconditional, selfless giving of her own to her most priced possession. The feeling of love encompasses every other feeling. The very basic of love is truth and understanding. Love cannot grow if you cannot believe.
As each one of us grow in relationship, and traverse through different paths of life, we still search the elusive feeling of knowing the unknown. To come close to the Power within oneself, one needs to love oneself. Love does not just make you happy; it makes you grow happiness in others. You need to surrender yourself at the altar of Love to feel the divine power of Thy Almighty that resides within you, in your heart. Just nurture it to experience the bliss of living and loving.
