Today’s parents are poor role models for kids

Parents are generally considered as a fist teacher and role models for a child. But, a study has shown a hard and bitter fact of today’s parents – “you’re responsible for your kids’ lack of basic moral values”.

Recently in Britain, based on research and study, a very sad fact has been highlighted that children are not attaining basic moral values nowadays because today’s parents are poor role models for their children.

This fact has been carried out when researchers questioned 1.176 people and as a result they found that two thirds of the adults believe that the moral value of young people have declined significantly since the time when they were young. Celebrity cultures, lack of moral awareness, living in nuclear families are among the major reasons being discouragement traditional moral values among young generation.

During the research they also find that parents are not sharing enough time with their children besides being too eager to criticize child’s activities rather than encouraging and helping them to understand the challenges of current lifestyle.

It’s the responsibility of the parents to take care their children more responsively. The phrase “We reap that what we sow” is a perfectly demonstrating the scenario when it comes to teach moral values to children. Every parent plays a crucial role in a child’s life and it’s their duty to nurture and enhance values in their child behavior.

Unfortunately, it is very easy to criticize children rather to teach them the importance and essence of moral values and awareness, as it is the parents who are very near in their child’s life always. Children who are getting disconnected from their communities, family and this wider society, in reality need positive environment and role models in their life, to understand and nurture moral values in them.
